European News Scrutinized by BBE

This article was originally published in French on VBO BE here.

The FEB BBE – Belgian Business for Europe platform met this Monday to take stock of current European issues, on this anniversary of the first 100 days of the European Commission chaired by Ursula von der Leyen.

The members thus had the opportunity to dialogue with the deputy representative of Belgium to the EU, Ambassador Jan Hoogmartens, and with the Chef de Cabinet of the Belgian Commissioner Didier Reynders, Geneviève Tuts. The Green Deal and the European Commission’s new industrial strategy, as well as Brexit, consumer protection or the deterioration of the rule of law in certain Member States were thus discussed.

This meeting was also marked by the passing of the torch between the outgoing president of the BBE, Philippe de Buck (honorary managing director of BusinessEurope and member of the European Economic and Social Committee), and the incoming president, Thomas Tindemans (Chairman of the Brussels office of ‘ Hill + Knowlton Strategies’, and founding member of BBE 20 years ago). FEB CEO Pieter Timmermans thanked Philippe de Buck for his long-standing commitment to FEB and European issues. He also thanked Thomas Tindemans for agreeing to take up the torch, in favor of the necessary dialogue between the Belgian economic world and the European institutions.
